Eleftheria’s songs are traveling all over the world! The CD “Eleftheria Arvanitaki – The Very Best of 1989-1998” is released by the historic jazz label Verve which has a number of very important recordings of very famous jazz and ethnic artists in her catalogue, such as Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Mercedes Sosa, Louis Armstrong and Night Ark. She is the first Greek singer being introduced by Verve to the international audience.
Four of Eleftheria’s albums are released in Europe in special editions These are: “Meno Ektos” (i.e. “I remain outside”), “I Nichta Katevenei” (i.e. “The Night is Descending”), “Zontana stous Vrachous” (i.e. “Live at Vrachon”) and “Ta Kormia ke ta Maheria” (i.e. “the Bodies and the Knives”).
In spring, she gives a series of appearances at the “Iera Odos” Club in Athens and the “FIX” club in Salonica together with Yannis Kotsiras. In May, Eleftheria plays at the “La Cigalle” theatre in Paris and takes part in the WOMAD festival in Caceres (Spain). In July, she appears at the International Jazz Festival of Montreux, a very important festival for jazz and ethnic music worldwide. She is the first Greek singer to appear at this festival. She also appears at the Pirineos Sur Festival at the Pyrenees. In October, she gives two very successful concerts in Madrid and Barcelona and she plays at the Town Hall of New York, as well as the Berklee Performance Center in Boston being a guest of the World Music Institute Finally, she takes part in the Millenium End Festival of Barcelona, which includes a series of events that are organized to welcome the new millennium, by giving a concert with the Spanish performer Carlos Nunez. She is the only Greek singer appearing at this festival, in which internationally popular artists like Jose Carreras and Madredeus also take part.
In the same year, Eleftheria also takes part in the concerts of great Greek performers and creators. He participates in the performance of Domna Samiou at the Athens Concert Hall, the concert of Christos Nikolopoulos at the Herodeion and the two concerts of Nikos Xydakis at the Athens Concert Hall.

In 2000, the album “Gifted – Women of the World” was released in Europe by Real World and Virgin with the participation of Eleftherias. With the songs of “Sappho” and “The Bodies and the Knives”, Eleftheria meets eight great female voices from all over the world, such as Susana Baca from Peru and the Anglo-Indian Sheila Chandra.. British Sam Mills produced and orchestrated the album.
In October she tours in Spain (Sevilla, Malaga, Murcia, Vigo, Donostia) and she gives a superb concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London. In November, she participates in the “Giubileo della Terra” series of events in Rome that are organized by the Vatican.
